Registration
How do I register?
You register online.
When does registration begin?
Online registration begins January 1st, 2026.
Do I have to register online?
Yes, you can only register online.
What if I get waitlisted?
You get added to the waitlist by divisions. Players are placed on a team who loses a player from its original roster, regardless of the team location. If you refuse to join that team you will be dropped to the bottom of the waitlist for that division. NO EXCEPTIONS! The waitlist is dropped after week 3 of the season.
How can I pay for registration fees?
You can pay online through credit card.
How much does it cost to register a player?
For the 2026 season it will be $300 to register a player.
How do I get a receipt/reissue a receipt?
Your receipt will be immediately sent to your email following your registration. Keep your receipts for your records. Any receipt reprint/reissue at a later date will be subject to a $10 replacement fee (no exceptions).
When is the registration cut off date?
Registration deadline is March 1st, 2026. Any registrations after this is subject to an additional $25 late fee. We might close the online system before the deadline date if the league fills up. We will begin placing players on teams at this time, and there will be NO exceptions to the rule. If you register before the deadline and are waitlisted, your registration is still valid until you get added to a team or the waitlist is dropped after week 3.
Can I register more than one player at a time?
You can register as many players as you’d like.
Can my child play up an age group or down an age group?
The league DOES NOT allow kids to play up an age group and the age group in which you fall is based on the YEAR you were born, not school year. You are NOT allowed to play down an age group (unless extenuating circumstance).
Can I put in a request to play with certain players?
No. Do NOT ask via email or phone as no requests will be granted REGARDLESS OF ANY SITUATION.
Teams
How many players can play on a team?
A normal flag football team usually has 10-12 players, however, depending on the total number of players registered in a division, some teams may have less than 10.
Is there a maximum number of teams in each age division?
Yes and No, there is never a limit of how many teams will be in a division, if there is a multitude of teams we will create divisions to make scheduling more manageable. Once the registration limit has been reached, no more teams will be added to a division.
Games
How many games a week will my child be playing?
Every team will play one game a week. Games will be Saturday’s, the first games will always start at 10:30 am with the second game following at the same location until all groups have played. We start with the 6/7 division, then 8/9 division, then 10/11 division, 12/13 division.
**THERE IS A POSSIBILITY GAMES WILL BE PLAYED ON SUNDAYS FROM TIME-TO-TIME DUE TO FIELD AVAILABILITY & WEATHER RESCHEDULED GAMES**
Where will the games be played?
All flag football games will be played at Shouldice Fields.
Other
How many times will my child practice a week?
Practices will be held 30 minutes prior to the game. Please respect the coaches wishes in regards to practice, but if you have any concerns express them to your coach.
Where will we practice?
Practices will be held at the same field the game is scheduled to be on.
Do I need to be certified to coach?
No. You must pass a criminal background check that is paid for by NFL Flag Football Calgary West.
Can we put in a request for a certain NFL team name and logo for our jerseys?
Jersey colors, teams and logos are not decided by our league. Teams are automatically assigned their team name by the NFL Flag Program inventory that is provided to us.
What do I need for my child to play flag?
Your child will be issued a mouthguard, flags, and a jersey, which are theirs to keep at the end of the season. They can wear cleats (no metal spikes or studs cleats) or runners for footwear. NO Flipflops, Slides, Sanuks or Crocs are allowed to be played in. All these aforementioned equipment is provided to you in your registration fee.
What if I selected the wrong clothing size for my child, can I get it changed?
Yes, IF we have a replacement available in our very limited inventory. If we have to order one there is a charge of $60.
If my child doesn’t like flag/I want to withdraw, can I get a refund?
Refunds that are requested before the end of the registration time period will be returned, less a $25 administration fee.
Refunds that are requested after the registration time period will be returned, less a $100 fee.
Refunds will NOT be offered after the start of the season.
